Becoming Inspired

One of my favorite genres to read are self help books. I am the type of person who always wants to improve myself and the things around me. So far this year I have read two books that have really helped my mindset. The 5AM Club by Robin Sharma and You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. As the year started I set a challenge for myself to get up a bit early so I could stretch each morning. In the 5AM Club, Robin Sharma speaks about setting an hour to prepare for your day using the 20/20/20 rule. 20 minutes of exercise, 20 minutes for reflection/meditation, and 20 minutes for learning. There is much more in the book to help increase productivity and focus but this first thing struck a chord with me. In a sense I had made a plan to start something similar. So far I have been doing 10/10/10 most mornings this month along with listening to podcasts on my hour drive to work. I feel I have been able to plan my day more effectively and accomplish more while still having free time for my family. Jen Sincero’s book resonated with me as well. I always have this feeling I am meant for more, that I need to do something bigger, but I am afraid and I procrastinate and I make excuses and stop myself from tackling some of my dream projects. Her book is very motivating and helped me identify some of the ways I am sabotaging myself. I am now working on a plan to start moving in a positive direction towards some of my big goals. Do you feel like you are meant for something big? What is keeping you from reaching for it? I would love to hear about it in the comments. Thank you for reading.
