February 2022 Update
As the month is coming to a close, I am looking back to see how it derailed. I was so hopeful at the beginning of the month, this was to be my January fresh start. Chore chart created and hopeful about what I could accomplish. Looking at my chart I did great for the first six days before I started waning but I was still completing more than half of my daily goals each day. The sixteenth was the last day I tracked anything. And here we are on the twenty sixth. I like to learn from the patterns in my life so that I can continue to improve. What did I learn from this month and what do I want to change for March? I allowed work demands to get in the way of my work-life balance. My work days were long and arriving home tired left me little energy to want to tackle my items, it was too easy to just nap or watch TV. My dinner prep was lacking and this led to more takeout this month. I tried to ramp up my home activities too fast after recovering from January, but I was just too excited to get back to doing things. I signed up for a free four-day course about becoming an author, went skiing and finally celebrated Christmas with my oldest and her husband. Maybe I tried to do too much too soon. By the end of the month I had neck pain and a rash that turned out to be Shingles, another learning opportunity. I thought for a moment on my way home from urgent care, why can’t I just give up? First my sprained ankle, then covid and now Shingles, why can’t I just say “I give up?” I think back over my past and I have certainly been through tougher times, all of which I never uttered the words “I give up” so clearly these minor setbacks are not worthy of those words now. I don’t know why but deep inside I have the spirit of a fighter, I push through the challenge, I work to improve, I am optimistic, and I won’t give up. To get back on track I will look for the small accomplishments and the positive progress I made this month. This article is my third new blog post I wrote today. In an effort to keep my hands busy to not scratch my rash I learned to crochet dinosaurs, another win in my book. I plan to use the rest of this weekend to map out my strategic plan to attack March, using what I learned this month to improve and make a new chore chart. How did your February go? Please post something positive that happened this month!
