Running Review 2024

I tried to start the year off on the right foot by signing up for the First Day 5K and Polar Plunge in Ocean City.  Since I had not been training, I did not expect much for the race except to finish.  I was pleased with my sub 35 minute time.  A trip to Galveston in February jump started my running. Morning runs along the beach in seventy degree weather was just the thing I needed.  But then March running was not a thing.  April was good with 15 miles total, May I was struggling and June saw 12 miles.  I signed up for the full in Rehoboth in December and needed to get my training back on track.  August provided another opportunity to focus on running with a week in the North Carolina mountains.  After a week there running at sea level was a breeze and I logged almost 42 miles for the month.  September was another strong month with 45 miles.  But to put this in perspective, 42 and 45 miles in a month is nowhere near what is needed for marathon training.  October hubby and I decided to finally finish painting the house and have new carpet installed with a completion goal before Thanksgiving.  I did not run a single step in November. I lied to myself and told myself that all the physical labor painting and packing were the equivalent to running. There was a moment when I thought I could still run the full 26.2 miles but common sense won and I downgraded to the half.  The only miles I ran in December were at the half.  When I looked at my total miles for the year I was surprised to find that I ran more than last year.  As the new year is beginning I want to focus on strength training and helping relax some tight muscles that I think are affecting my form.  I will let you know how it goes!  Thank you for reading!
