Chore Charts- Not Just for Children

There are at least three times a year when my motivation level peaks, January, Spring and September.  I will forever be a nerd and I just love back to school season.  I get excited seeing all of the pens, markers, and notebooks in store, although not in July. I want to organize and clean, getting ready for school to start.  I think it helps that I work in the education field so it intensifies my motivation. Spring is another great time when I get on task to clean and get ready for the summer, planning adventures and projects.  And then there is January when many of us look forward to the possibilities of the new year.  I like to focus on creating new habits rather than trying to stop bad habits.  At the start of this year I wound up with covid and slept about the first week and a half of the year.  The remainder of January was just trying to get back to normal and catch up with things that fell by the wayside while I was sick.  Still craving that fresh start I decided February 1 would start my new year.  Last week I decided what I wanted to focus on for the month, what areas do I want to improve or what habits do I want to form.  As a reward driven person, I love my charts. My chart has a daily section at the top and then a weekly section on the bottom.  This month I decided I wanted to focus on writing more and have challenged myself to write everyday.  After looking at the list of books I read in 2021, I realized I did not read as much as I had wanted. I am sure my social media browsing had something to do with this.  In an effort to reduce my time on social media I will try to read a book each night.  A couple other items are taking my vitamins and wearing my retainer.  My weekly items are just chores such as laundry and cleaning the bathroom, but I find if I can do a weekly chore each night during the week it frees up more time on the weekend.  The list just seems to prompt me to do more.  I am also not above bribing myself to reach my goals, if I notice I am struggling I will pick a shorter time goal and offer myself a reward if I obtain the goal.  What do you do to motivate yourself?  Comment below, I love to find new ideas to try!
