First NFL Game
I have been a football fan since I was about 7 or 8. Not really sure how this happened as my parents did not watch football. In my younger days I rooted for the Steelers and then in high school it was the Bears. When I met my husband he has always been a Falcons fan and I adopted his team as my new favorite. More than the team, I enjoy the game regardless of who is playing. For years football was a family event, spending time watching the games each week. I live in Eagles territory and while the Falcons play in Philly it is not the safest thing to root for the visiting team there nor is it the cheapest. One night I looked to see what tickets would cost to go to a Falcons game in Atlanta and there were tickets for $35! Let the planning begin! Hubby and I started talking about a long weekend and adding some sightseeing. Using our Southwest points our flight cost less than $25. We decided to select better seating for the game and found ones for $49 each. We then booked a hotel and rental car. Emails from the Falcons before our trip alerted us to stadium tours that are available for a fee. We signed up to take the tour a couple of days before the game. The tour was amazing, it was great to see the almost empty space. We toured the locker rooms and were allowed to the field.
The building holds Platinum LEED certification which is the highest rating, basically it means the building was built and maintains the highest standards to be environmentally friendly. Game day arrived and we took the train to the stadium. Rain was in the forecast and while it held off many of the outdoor pregame events were canceled and I did not get to meet Freddy Falcon. We picked a good day to attend, face painting, beanie hat and a flag from the stadium. Pre-game publics gave away hats, bags and koozies. There was so much to take in. We sat on the visitor side of the field so we could see the Falcons team during the game. It was a close game but in the end we lost. The excitement of being in the stadium was a great experience and I am looking forward to my second game next season. What is your favorite sport? Have you been to a live game? I would love to hear about it in the comments.
